Reverberating microphone
The plate moves with the acoustic sound in the room. Two microphones on the plate capture its decay, phase-coherent with the source. It is silent in the room; the sound exists only inside the microphones.

Two ways to put it on a record.
Traditional plate reverb
Feed a line-level signal to the built-in transducer and amplifier. The plate is driven directly, the way a classic plate reverb works, and reads brighter and more focused than microphone mode.
Remote Control · add-on
Set the decay from the control room.
